Lou, we cannot wait for this collection – can you talk us through it..?

The SS17 collection has a strong emphasis on technically enhanced fabrics and finishes. Contemporary sportswear that doubles up as day wear, fine gauge merino knits, ergonomic sleeves, indigo denim, plus, showerproof cottons and jacquards.

Last season’s collection was pretty much perfect – what’s new to love this time around?

This time it feels a little more relaxed and less buttoned-up. The contrast-striped Merino wool sweaters are great; the horizontal stripe sitting towards the neck is so flattering.

The collection is very straight-forward and uncomplicated, like the chap we design for.

Performance features and technically-enhanced fabrics sound pretty fancy – what does it all mean?

The collection is very straight-forward and uncomplicated, like the chap we design for. The fabrics of choice reflect this: durable, light, non-crease, showerproof and breathable. It’s about embracing the idea of quality and longevity.

You’re famous for your outerwear – what makes the perfect jacket?

The three Fs! Fabric, fit and finish.

Where should a modern man-about-town wear your designs?

To work, to rest and play…

How do you unblock a creative block?

Research. So whether that be reading a book, listening to music, watching a film, visiting a gallery, or a book shop – anything to escape, to take you away from feeling empty.

My favourite piece? The Nylon Windbreaker – it’s incredibly light and airy

What’s your golden style rule?

Begin with a good shoe.

Finish this sentence: if I weren’t an incredible menswear designer, I’d be…

An upholsterer.

If you had to pick a favourite piece from the collection, which would it be and why?

The Nylon Windbreaker. It’s a move-on from a piece developed in the AW16 collection, but the cloth is incredibly light and airy, making it easy to wear during the summer months.

Dedicated to our talented photographer, Robert Wyatt
