How did the Donna Ida x Jaeger collaboration come about?

I got to know Liza Webb, the Director of Womenswear, and she was so open to ideas that it happened quite organically. The rest of the team have been a dream to work with; so enthusiastic, creative and fun. The final result is a true collaboration which upholds Jaeger’s sense of British style and injects the Donna Ida expertise for directional denim and contemporary separates.

Which are your favourite pieces?

I love all of them, but I think Dora the 70s Jumpsuit is the piece that I knew straight away would be perfect for the collaboration. It has a retro look yet is beautifully up-to-date with a nipped in waist, zip front and flared leg. I also love teaming denim with statement pieces, so I would have to say Constant Romance ‒ the delicate oversize silk shirt.

Jaeger is…

British elegance with contemporary styling.

How do you think denim has evolved since you launched Donna Ida?

It’s been ten years since I opened Donna Ida, and denim is still (and always will be) a staple item in a modern wardrobe. I’d say the biggest change has been with the fit and fabrication. We now have so many more choices to suit a range of body shapes and they have more stretch and recovery for comfort. And, there’s also the introduction of new key denim shapes like dungarees, boiler suits, playsuits and dresses.

What are you favourite denim moments of all time?

Marilyn Monroe on all fours in a pair of high-waisted turn ups and a bra, Marilyn in a tailored denim jumpsuit curled on a wicker chair, Marilyn on the set of The Misfits in an oversized denim jacket. Oh, and Baby in Dirty Dancing in her denim cut-offs.

And, denim icon?

Marilyn Monroe! She is just divine, and feels like such a Donna Ida girl to me. She’s the epitome of relaxed glamour.

If you could live in someone else’s jeans for the day, whose would you choose?

Kate Moss’ ‒ those jeans have really lived!

What are you top tips for keeping in jean-ready shape?

I’m a Gemini so I’m all or nothing, and at the moment I’m following the Metabolic Balance programme by Petronella, which keeps me feeling full of energy. I’m a member of KX Gym in Chelsea and also enjoy workouts with Claire Woodward (aka SuperGymChick on social media).

You’re originally from Australia ‒ where is home, Sydney or London?

London for the fashion, Sydney for the beaches.

Tell us something about yourself we wouldn’t find on Google…

I’ve just welcomed a new addition to the family… Eduardo is a long haired Chihuahua and joins my other two boys Julio and Fernando. I’m creating a mini Mexican army!
