Each season, our teams immerse themselves in the worlds of art and culture and emerge fully inspired and ready to create. This summer, they journeyed to 1960s California, by way of artist David Hockney.

Of all the exhibitions happening this season, David Hockney at Tate Britain must be one of the most talked-about. Is it any wonder, then, that our Menswear designers found themselves immersed in a world of colour and movement, in late 60s California?

This collection of Hockney’s paintings focus on swimming pools, with azure blue skies, lapping waters and the muted brights of sun-baked buildings. But it was the movement of A Bigger Splash that really caught their eye, and sent them on a creative spin that ended up with them designing part of our summer collection.

Whether it’s the lightweight crew neck jersey tee decorated all-over in a rippling tile pattern, the contrast bonding inside a jacket or a drench of orange over a polo shirt, there are little touches of the artist throughout that give this collection a relaxed summer feel.
