With the social whirl of event season just around the corner, we've put together a definitive guide to the season's key events (and what to wear to them)...

Sommerset House music event

Summer Series at Somerset House: 9-19 July

If, like us, you're quite happy to give camping a miss then this is the music event for you. Apart from the iconic landmark location, you can also look forward to this year's headliners: James Bay, George Ezra and Passenger.

Somersault Festival Camping Image

Somersault: 23-27 July

Laura Marling and Bombay Bicycle Club will be headlining this year's festivities in North Devon at one of our favourite boutique festivals. What else is in store? Outdoor pursuits (for kids big and small), glamping and more.

Port Eliot Festival Image

Port Eliot: 30 July-7 August

Napoleon once said that Port Eliot ? the grade one listed historic seat of the Earl and Countess of St Germans ? was the most beautiful place in England. He wasn't wrong. Add some fantastic music, food and literature, and you've got yourself a very special festival.

Edinburgh Fringe Festival Image

Edinburgh Festival Fringe: 7-31 August

Every August the cobbled Scottish capital plays host to the world's largest arts festival, and this year will be no exception. From singers and dancers to comedians and circus acts, there's a little something for everyone.

The Big Feastival Jamie Oliver & Alex James

Big Feastival: 28-30 August

Our favourite TV chef Jamie Oliver and Blur bassist Alex James are back in the Cotswolds for another year of music, food and craft workshops. From Paloma Faith to blogging sensation Deliciously Ella ? it's not to be missed.

art & culture

Glyndebourne Classical Summer Music Event

Glyndebourne: 21 May, 24 May and 5 June

A historic country house, classical music and picnics on the lawn: this is the quintessential English opera experience. Be sure to take a break from the musical delights long enough to explore the stunning grounds of this incredible Sussex pile.

Hay Literary Festival

Hay Festival: 21-31 May

Set in Hay-on-Wye on the beautiful Welsh borders, this ten-day literary festival is the perfect place for book lovers. This year's speakers include Mary Portas, Bear Grylls and the curator of the V&A's Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition.

Chelseas Royal Hopsital Flower Show

RHS Chelsea: 19-23 May

Green fingers or no green fingers, the world's most prestigious flower show ? held in the grounds of Chelsea's Royal Hospital ? is a delightful way to spend an afternoon. Our favourite display from last year? Fabric, sponsored by House of Fraser (pictured here).

Royal Academy of Arts Exhibition artist paintings

Royal Academy of Arts Exhibition: 8 June-16 August

The largest open submission contemporary art show is now in its 247th year. From paintings and prints to architectural models, a panel of celebrated artists will judge them all with the winners being selected to go on view to the public. We can't wait.

BBC Proms Concert Hall

BBC Proms: 17 July-12 September

Forget Glastonbury, this is the world's biggest music festival. For 2015, you can look forward to the first ever dance prom (Prom 16) featuring international DJ Pete Tong as well as a celebration of the piano ? over 30 soloists will be performing in the two-month music extravaganza.

sporting event

Royal Ascot Horse Racing

Royal Ascot: 16-20 June

Dating back over 300 years, this is Britain's most famous (and stylish) race meeting. The fashion rules may be strict, but we guarantee you won't step out of line in our Spring/Summer '15 occasion looks. Trust us.

Wimbledon Tennis Event

Wimbledon: 29 June-12 July

Whether you go for the top-class tennis or Pimms and people-watching, the world's oldest and most prestigious tournament is a jolly good day out. We've got our money on Andy Murray for this year's title (of course).

Henley Regatta Rowing River Race

Henley Regatta: 1 July-5 July

Olympians and club rowers compete alongside each other at Britain's most famous river regatta. This lovely little carnival started its life in 1839, and its sartorial focus has historically centred on the rowers. But this is 2015, and you'll be wearing Jaeger...

Goodwood Festival of Speed

Glorious Goodwood: 28 July-1 August

Picture the scene: it's a hot sunny day, the champagne is chilled, and you're in your most elegant attire. This is what you can expect from the iconic race meet that attracts not only the finest jockeys, but the finest crowds.
